STATEMENT
My work explores the relationship between material, space and perception, and the formal connections that emerge through process. As a sculptor, I work primarily with white stoneware clay to create intimate-scale forms inspired by architectural language. The sculptures are intended to be experienced both visually and spatially, engaging with ideas of balance, opposition and quiet tension.
Clay’s ability to retain memory and record process both guides and limits my decisions. I am drawn to ceramics understated uniformity, which balances the structural geometries I employ. Proportion plays a central role in shaping spatial relationships, where void and mass, structure and openness hold equal importance.
I often work in series, using rhythm, repetition and subtle variation to build continuity while allowing room for intuitive refinement. Minimal interventions help create a sense of resonance, with each piece engaging with its surroundings.
At the core of my practice is the intention to create moments of stillness - encounters that evoke calm and introspection. Forms are deliberately left incomplete or held in transition to maintain openness and accessibility. Working slowly and deliberately, I seek to preserve the immediacy and vulnerability of the material.
Through this process, I aim to offer not just an aesthetic experience but a felt one - an invitation to pause, connect, and simply observe.
